Analysis and Design of a Single Chip BiCMOS Solution for Maritime Phased Array Radar System RWTH IAS

In the hitherto existing radar systems is the transmitting power generated by a complex tube or magnetron based source. These in conjunction with a swivel directional antenna forms the current state of the art. The objective of this project is to integrate the whole radar transmitter- and receiver-block into a single chip solution. This is made possible by using an array antenna alone. Dividing the transmission power to individual antenna elements results in an inexpensive and effective system. Mechanical components are not required for the shifting of the antenna beam of a phase array antenna. These make systems of this kind multitasking capable. It's possible to pursuit several targets without to neglect the monitoring of the environment.
